Revisiting The Witcher in preparation for season 2? You might have forgotten all about those timelines: Geralt and Yennefer's stories both take place over several decades, while being a teenager for eight episodes means Ciri is just about anywhere. anywhere and everywhere in certain episodes. It can be confusing, to put it mildly.

To help you heal from your momentary woes in The Witcher, we've put together an easy-to-follow guide to when each major event happens in order, focusing on the three main characters of the Netflix series. : Geralt, Yen and Ciri. It might not make the actual season any less of a headache, but it will help you understand what you just watched in the long run.

YENNEFER ARC: Born with a bent spine and ostracized by her village, Vengerberg's Yennefer's magical powers have her head hunted for a spot at the magic academy in Aretuza. Episode 1.02, "Four Marks" (1206)

YENNEFER ARC: Yennefer has completed her training and "ascended", undergoing a painful body repair process - the cost of her beauty being the loss of her ability to have children. She successfully applied her path to the position of court mage in Aedirn, the capital of Vengerberg, instead of her original throne in Nilfgaard. Classmate Fringilla is sent to Nilfgaard to replace her. King Dagorad, the father of Queen Calanthe, is on the throne of Cintra. Episode 1.03, "Traitor Moon" (1210)

GERALT ARC: As a child, Geralt was abandoned by his mother to train as a Witcher with the legendary Vesemir. Episode 1.08, "There's More"

GERALT ARC: Masquerading as another mage named Irion, Stregobor asks Geralt to kill Princess Renfri of Creyden, believing her to be a monster because she was born under the so-called Curse of the Black Sun. When Geralt killed her in Blaviken, she told him: “The girl in the woods will always be with you. She is your destiny”. It alludes to Princess Cirilla (Ciri) of Cintra. Episode 1.01, "The Beginning of the End" (1231)

GERALT ARC: Geralt meets troubadour/actor Jaskier, who becomes his companion. The duo also encounter a group of Elves, who have been banished from their home at Dol Blathanna by humans. Episode 1.02, "Four Marks" (1240)

YENNEFER ARC: Accompanied by Queen Kalis of Lyria and her young daughter on a journey from Aedirn, Yennefer's trainer is attacked by a mage and his bug monster. After escaping through several portals, Yennefer decides she can't save Kalis (target), leaves her behind and takes the baby with her. The baby could not survive, and Yennefer decided to live on her own. Episode 1.04, “The Party, the Bastards, and the Burialers” (1240)

GERALT ARC: Triss Merigold, a magician arrives at the court in Temeria, asking Geralt to deal with a dangerous Striga terrorizing the kingdom, while also having an unexpected connection with King Foltest. Episode 1.03, "Traitor Moon" (1243)

GERALT ARC: As a favor to Jaskier, Geralt ends up in court in Cintra, and plays an unexpected role in the marriage of Princess Pavetta, daughter of Queen Calanthe. Geralt is magically and surely bound to Pavetta's unborn daughter, Ciri, through the Law of Surprise - but Calanthe still banishes him from Cintra. Episode 1.04, "The Party, the Bastards, and the Burialers" (1249)

YENNEFER ARC, GERALT ARC: While trying to save Jaskier from the aftermath of a close clash with a nasty djinn, Geralt meets Yennefer for the first time in Rinde - the beginning of a very complicated relationship. Episode 1.05, "Bottled Flavors" (126)

YENNEFER ARC, GERALT ARC: A few years later, Yennefer and Geralt meet again during a dragon hunt organized by the Borch Three Jackdaws. Apparently they had met several times in recent years. Episode 1.06, "Rare Species" (1262)

Season 2 will begin when Season 1 has stopped. Geralt will take Ciri to Kaer Morhen, a hidden mountainside where he grew up at the Witcher School. Ciri's secrets will begin to unravel as she becomes increasingly pursued by political forces, ancient evil forces, and a reclusive group controlling a dangerous mage. Yennefer's fate after the Battle of Sodden Hill will also be revealed as the plight of the elves, the mystery of the monoliths, and the nefarious plot of Nilfgaard's "White Flame" are also discovered.
